Streaming Original Holiday Flicks: 14 To Consider Watching

One of the best parts of this time of the year is watching Christmas films. Old stop-motion ones, classics in black and white, modern comedies… There are so many to soak up and enjoy! Thankfully, due to the numerous digital platforms that exist, there are even more options. Down below, I’ve listed out 14 of them to consider, ranging from romantic comedies and those aimed at Bravo fans to several that are perfect for family movie nights.

Let’s start with Disney+. Of course, this platform already has several of the classics, such as “The Santa Clause” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” but it also has a cute original: “Noelle.” It stars Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Billy Eichner and focuses on Kris Kringle’s kids!

Next up is a fun suggestion on Peacock… “The Housewives of the North Pole” is a tale about a holiday decorating competition, and it features my favorite cast member of The Real Housewives franchise, Kyle Richards! Plus, not to post spoilers, but it mayyy also include some exciting cameos;)

“8-Bit Christmas” released this year on HBO Max, with a cast made up of people like Neil Patrick Harris, June Diane Raphael and David Cross. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get into this one; it felt like it was targeting young boys, but we may give it another go at some point.

Finally, there is Netflix, and here is my thought: What this streaming service lacks in the horror department (so disappointing), it makes up for at Christmastime! In the rom-com genre, we have “Holidate,” “Love Hard,” “Single All The Way,” and “Let It Snow.” Do they have some cheesy moments? Sure, but don’t worry, because they are not totally Hallmark or Lifetime-esque. Of course, there is Vanessa Hudgens playing a million characters (well, three) in three installments of “The Princess Switch” film series. And for magical moments, we have “The Christmas Chronicles” (though I’d skip that sequel), “Klaus,” “Jingle Jangle” (so fun) and “A Boy Called Christmas” (which I loved).
